Certificate III in Hospitality Operations
Overview
This course has been designed to develop the role of hospitality employees who perform a wide range of skilled tasks and with the need to apply discretion and judgment. It allows for multi-skilling requirements of many hospitality businesses. Depending on the electives chosen, this qualification provides a range of competencies for people to learn about procedures in hotels, motels, restaurants and catering facilities and is suitable for people working in a range of hospitality enterprises such as nightclubs, restaurants, clubs, bars, airlines, casinos, function centres , cruise ships and hotels worldwide.
Designed for
People working in the hospitality industry including, bar operator, cellar person, concierge/valet, front office attendant, gaming operator, sommelier, barista, waitperson, room service waitperson, or housekeeper.
Course Outcomes
This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skill to:
· Advance their interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
· Develop the cultural awareness that is required by all people working in the tourism and hospitality areas.
· Update their knowledge of the hospitality industry including different industry sectors and relevant industry legislation
· Follow health, safety and security procedures
· Satisfy the requirements for responsible service of alcohol under State/Territory legislation
· Provide food and beverage service to customers in a range of industry enterprises
· Gain the skills required to follow key hygiene procedures which apply in hospitality and tourism enterprises.
Course Structure
A total of 19 units of competency must be completed.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.

Qualifications and Recognition
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a Certificate III in Hospitality Operations.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
