Certificate III in Transport and Distribution
(Road Transport)
Overview
A general qualification for the road transport industry, encompassing a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities involving known routines, methods and procedures, such as transferring cargo and stock, equipment checking and maintenance, load handling, occupational health and safety, communication and calculations, quality, planning and navigating routes and checking and assessing the operational capabilities of equipment. This course provides a variety of skills to supervisory level for road transport drivers and operators.
Designed for
People working in the transport industry including, general truck driver, furniture removalist, general freight driver, livestock driver, tanker driver, transit bus driver and armoured vehicle driver.
Course Outcomes
This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skill to:
· Gain the fundamentals which apply in the transport industry
· Learn interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
· Handle cargo and control stock
· Plan and navigate routes in accordance with state and territory regulations
· Accurately process and handle information, documentation and stock
· Maintain information and records
· Gain and apply the skills required to follow health, safety and security procedures
· Learn about what is required to satisfy the requirements for OH & S under State/Territory legislation
· Understand the importance teamwork
Course Structure
A total of 21 units of competency must be completed.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.

Qualifications and Recognition
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Road Transport).
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
